A first-half brace from Ollie Brown helped Ringwood Town run out 3-1 victors against Lymington Town in the second New Forest Derby in seven days.
Brown bagged his first in the ninth minute before Ben Harris doubled Ringwood’s lead just after the half-hour mark. The visitors pulled one back Kian Dugdale before just before halftime, but not before Brown scored his second of the night minutes earlier.
Brown opened the scoring nine minutes in when his tidy finish found the bottom left corner after Denys Tsyplakov unlocked the Lymington defence with a pinpoint through ball. Lymington worked their way into the game when William Johnson forced Felix Bruce to punch clear 20 minutes in.
The Linnets were forced into making a change on the half hour mark through the half as Corey Elwick came off injured. Harris doubled Ringwood’s lead when he connected with Jesse Rabin’s ball over the top to lash it past James Mayo in the Lymington net.
Brown came close to doubling his account for the day as he jinked through the Lymington backline, but his shot was blocked. However, it wasn’t long Brown scored his second for the night. Harris drove towards the Lymington box and squared the ball towards Brown who only had to poke the ball over the line 45 minutes in.
Dugdale pulled one back for Lymington in injury time during the first half when he skipped past Sam Danvers and fired it into the far corner. Dugdale had a chance to halve the deficit in the 62nd minute when he caught Danvers off guard and broke towards goal, but he was only able to ripple the side netting.
Harris came close to doubling his account for the day when he rounded Mayo and shot towards goal, but Callum Taylor slid in to deny the Ringwood striker as the game petered out with Ringwood securing all three points.
